Planning for a growing city

We’ve compiled this interactive map which shows the ACT Government’s published intentions for a city-wide light rail network.

The future network builds on the existing light rail line between Canberra’s City Centre and the satellite town of Gungahlin, with future stages extending to:

  • Woden, via the Parliamentary Zone
  • Belconnen
  • Canberra International Airport
  • Tuggeranong
  • Fyshwick, and
  • Molonglo Valley, via Weston Creek.

The ACT Government’s original aim was to deliver a stage of light rail every five years. This ambition has slipped to a new stage every decade, in part due to delays associated with Commonwealth planning approvals for the stage two extension through the Parliamentary Zone.

We can do better.

Please note: this is not a “fantasy map” of PTCBR’s preferred light rail routes. We have provided sources for each route alignment, with confirmed and indicative stops shown based on currently available information.

You can learn more about Canberra’s future light rail network on the Transport Canberra and Major Projects Canberra websites.
