Earlier this week, Minister Steel made a statement to the Legislative Assembly about upgrades to the bus fleet. You might remember that at the start of the year, the promised replacements to the old orange Renault buses hadn’t yet arrived, and so the ACT missed the 2022 deadline to have all its buses meet the disability standards for public transport.
The new statement confirms we’ll have to wait a little longer. The chosen suppliers for the diesel replacements, Bustech and Scania, are facing all sorts of delays, and it means we won’t have all 26 buses until November. Hopefully.
On the bright side, the electric replacements are doing quite well, and we’re looking at getting another 106 over the next 3 years.
